Workshop: "Medico-Legal Principles" Our company offers, amongst other products, certain tailor made consulting services to our clients in the health care industry. Various sessions are offered to clinical and administrative staff interacting with patients. Workshops are custom made and presented to staff (those dealing with patients directly, over the phone or via the internet), dealing with the principles of medical law. This enables each participant to understand the legal fundamentals of their daily tasks. The essence of civil litigation (including medical negligence & strict liability), criminal law, disciplinary law and inquests are also discussed and the relevance thereof is explained. The sessions are interactive to ensure that the participants understand the legal implications of the employer and themselves as employees and in their personal capacities, as far as their actions and omissions in their daily professional careers are concerned. Tips to avoid liability are also discussed. The do's and don'ts of documentation during clinical interaction/intervention with a member/patient and the relevant factors for such a document to be optimal, when and if such a document needs to be legally defensible, are also discussed. We also offer specific sessions dealing with complaints management and difficult customers that will assist the employees when confronted with such incidents. The customers of our clients may be emotional about their health and may perceive that there is fault with the staff of our clients. This session will also strengthen the hand of the supervisor in providing appropriate instructions to the staff on complaints handling.
