MLRM and its visit to the WHO in Geneva

MLRM had the enourmous priviledge to visit the head office of the World Organisation again in 2010. The discussions around 'Ehealth, Partnerships and Reform' were inspiring and the reading material donated to MLRM duly appreciated. MLRM has since started to do in-depth research into international jurisdiction in Telemedicine and we are already involved in some workshops on the African continent, dealing with this specific issue and the issue of public-private partnerships.

A special word of thanks and appreciation must go to Ms Namita Pradhan, the Assistant Director General in charge of 'Partnerships and United Nations Reform' for making some personal time available to meet with Pieter Swanepoel of MLRM. Her expertise, knowledge and passion for (amongst others) public-private partnerships were tangible and it was a huge honour to have been invited to spend time with her. She is an inspiration and an example of dedication to the cause of WHO.

MLRM and the invitation by the economic desk of ZDF & the visit to the Frankfurt Stock Exchange

Pieter Swanepoel of MLRM was invited by the economic desk of ZDF, the highly respected public television station serving millions of German citizens, to visit them at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, where they broadcast their daily economic update from. MLRM took up the invitation and visited them in the latter half of 2010.

A special word of thanks to Ms Sina Mainitz, a well-respected TV presenter (on economic issues) of ZDF, for the in-depth tour of the stock exchange and the introductions that gave MLRM the opportunity to get better insight into the trading activities of the companies listed there, especially those in the health care, pharmaceutical and ICT sectors.

It was also an honour to visit the ZDF head office and new television studios and control rooms and to be introduced to some of the key personnel working there.

The professional interactions during the week spent With them have already lead to further co-operation and strengthening of inter-continental relationships in health care, the pharmaceutical world and the ICT sector.

Speaker: 17th World Congress on Medical Law

What a pleasure it was to attend the 17th World Congress on Medical Law (WCML) held in Beijing in October 2008 and to share information and research with colleagues from all over the world.
It was a huge honour to be a speaker on the topic of 'Medicine assisted by Technology' and to participate in some work shops re the same. It was also very nice to re-connect with old friends and delegates that attended former WCML conferences with MLRM delegates.

A special word of thanks must go to Sun Longchun, President of the Organizing Committee of this 17th World Congress for an experience to be remembered. The scientific program was indeed very interesting and the various visits and sightseeing spectacular!

Furthermore, it connected MLRM with even more role players in the WHO and in the academic, legal and medical spheres of the public and private sector of many countries all over the world.

MLRM and its '67 minutes' social responsibility outreach on Mandela Day – Mannenburg, Cape Town, 2011

MLRM and one of its longstanding clients, Izinga Access, recently took hands in contributing time to some social upliftment projects in the Mannenburg Community, a low-income area of Cape Town. Mannenburg is faced with some serious social and economic challenges, but they are blessed with dedicated people in their community and beyond that do their best towards uplifting the community.

MLRM will have continued involvement in some of the projects managed in Mannenburg by Mr Momsen, another benefactor of his time to this specific and special community. MLRM was also asked to become involved, not only with feeding schemes, cleaning exercises, etc; but rendering medico-legal services to the 'First Aid Training Program' at the Mannenberg Community Centre and to assist with other planned health care projects there. MLRM is proud to announce that they will do so and have already commenced with work, the attendance of meetings and active participation in their community forums that are planning towards a better and more accessible health care scenario for all in the Mannenburg community.
